Mission work

Show up. Stay. Leave the skill behind.

Half of every year's project slate goes to mission and nonprofit partners at or below cost. This is the part of the work that pays for itself in a different currency.

The commitment

No parachutes

I don't parachute in. Every partnership below started with at least one trip where I brought no camera at all — and most of them now run their own storytelling without me.

Ask first, film second

No footage is captured before a partner and the people in it understand exactly where it will run and for how long.

Leave the skill behind

Every trip includes training. If a partner still needs me in five years, I've done the job badly.

Local voices lead

Field staff and community members narrate their own work. I don't hire a voiceover artist to explain someone's life to them.

Mission partners are quoted on a sliding scale, and training your own staff is always part of the scope. Tell me what you’re working on.
